Drive Times to Paynesville
From Melbourne CBD — 3.5 hours (290km).
Follow the M1/Princes Highway east through Traralgon and Sale, then take the Paynesville Road from Bairnsdale. The final 15 minutes along the water is the best part.
From Canberra — 5 hours (420km).
Head south via the Monaro Highway and Cann Valley Highway, joining the Princes Highway at Cann River one of Australia's great quiet road trips through high country and coastal forest.
From Sydney — 8 hours (720km).
The coastal route via the Princes Highway is a genuine road-trip classic break the journey in Batemans Bay or Merimbula and arrive at the lakes refreshed.
